Why is Research Leadership important?
This film from the Arts and Humanities Research Council examines Research Leadership and asks the question: Why is it important?
The film has been made to coincide with the renaming of the AHRC’s Fellowships Scheme which is to be re-titled the ‘Leadership Fellows’ scheme.
AHRC’s current Fellowships scheme was launched in January 2012 in order to support researchers who will have a transformative impact on their subject areas and who will act as advocates for the value and benefit of arts and humanities research beyond academia. It also seeks to build and strengthen leadership capacity to lead research agendas in the arts and humanities in the 21st century.
In this film we hear from the AHRC’s Chief Executive, Professor Rick Rylance; AHRC Council members Professor Andrew Thompson and former Chair, Sir Alan Wilson; as well as several researchers from across the arts and humanities disciplines. We hear about why research leadership is important and hear examples of leadership from their own careers.
