How green is the Bible?

There are few issues of such pressing political and ethical importance as the impact of human activity on the environment.

Professor David Horrell of New Testament Studies at the University of Exeter has led a three-year AHRC project that has been exploring this and other related questions such as the recent move towards the ‘greening’ of the Bible. ‘There are critical questions about whether the biblical and Christian tradition has fostered a negative view of the Earth,’ he says.

In this podcast interview David Horrell talks to the AHRC about the Bible’s role in helping to underpin our cultural assumptions about the environment and our place within it, the history of science and the projects involvement with schools.
