New AHRC film looks at Humanities in the European Research Area
HERA – Humanities in the European Research Area - is a partnership between 21 Humanities Research Councils across Europe and the European Science Foundation (ESF), with the objective of firmly establishing the humanities in the European Research Area and in the European Commission Framework Programmes.
In 2009, the HERA Network launched the first Joint Research Programme (HERA JRP) for two themes “Cultural Dynamics: Inheritance and Identity” and “Humanities as a Source of Creativity and Innovation”. Nineteen transnational humanities projects were funded as a result of the competitive call for proposals.
In June 2013 HERA and the AHRC jointly hosted a Final Conference, providing an opportunity for the project members, the funders and invited stakeholders to discuss the outcome of the HERA JRP programme.
In this film, which made at the final conference, we look at several of the projects funded under the Joint Research programme hearing about how the research deals with all-encompassing social, cultural, political and ethical developments and how it is generating new knowledge that helps enable policy-makers, scientists and the general public to interpret the challenges of a changing world.
