Launch of WW1 Centenary Hub

Date: 22/10/2014

A First World War Centenary hub has been launched today on Historypin.

Between 2014 and 2018, thousands of communities across the UK are leading local activities to explore and commemorate the First World War. They are discovering unknown stories, gathering heritage materials, putting on events, generating new creative works and sharing what they're doing.

The First World War Centenary hub provides a digital home for these First World War projects. People can set up their own project space and upload historical materials, promote their activities and record what they've done. Through a global map, the hub makes it easy to find First World War projects and connects them to thousands of others, enabling people to participate in local commemorative activities.

It has been funded by the AHRC, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Imperial War Museums in partnership with Jisc.

The five AHRC-funded WWI Engagement Centres each has a special area of the hub where they will upload information about their work and projects they are supporting.

You can visit the hub now at www.historypin.org/firstworldwar. You can also use the hub to find out more about the WW1 Engagement Centres.
