Collaborative workshop on Dylan Thomas - successful applicants announced

The ten researchers selected to participate in an AHRC/BBC Wales workshop on Dylan Thomas were announced today. The AHRC issued a call in May inviting expressions of interest from researchers interested in taking part in an event that will help inform and influence BBC thinking around the coverage of the centenary of Dylan Thomas?s birth in 2014.

The researchers selected through peer review are:

  • Edward Allen - PhD student, University of Cambridge
  • Dr John Goodby - Swansea University
  • Professor Richard Hand and Mary Traynor - University of Glamorgan (joint research)
  • Dr Sian Harris - University of Exeter
  • Dr Leo Mellor - University of Cambridge
  • Dr Charles Mundye - University of Hull
  • Dr Ruth Owen - Cardiff University
  • Kieron Smith - PhD student, Swansea University
  • Jamie Thorogood - PhD student, Oxford Brookes University

The researchers represent a broad range of interests and perspectives on Thomas?s work, including broadcasting, Welsh poetry, Thomas?s work in translation, his work during the War, and popular interpretations and appropriations of Thomas?s work.

The workshop will take place at Broadcasting House, Cardiff on the 29th June.
