AHRC/BBC Wales seminar on Dylan Thomas
A call was issued today for expressions of interest from arts and humanities researchers from all disciplines within the arts and humanities to participate in a half-day AHRC/BBC editorial seminar on Dylan Thomas on the 29th June 2012 in Cardiff.
The seminar, organised by the AHRC, will bring together BBC and independent commissioning and production staff with arts and humanities researchers specialising or with an interest in Dylan Thomas with a view to helping to shape and influence BBC coverage of the centenary of Dylan Thomas' birth in 2014. Applications could cover perspectives on Thomas' place within the history of British, English and Anglo-Welsh poetry of the 1930s and 1940s, Thomas?s political views, his work during the Second World War for the Ministry of Information, his broadcast output, his reception in the US and internationally, influences on his work including the Bible and Welsh contexts, and his influence on contemporary popular culture.
The workshop follows a successful workshop held in February which brought researchers together with BBC commissioning and editorial staff to discuss the First World War.Return to news list
