Capital investment in research consultation - closes Friday
Following the Chancellor's announcement on making a long-term commitment to invest in science and research infrastructure, there is a consultation seeking views from the research and user communities as well as partner organisations. This is an opportunity to say how capital research funding should be invested; from investment in research datasets and archives through to investing in major pieces of equipment, national research infrastructure or international facilities.
The Chancellor stated his plan to increase capital investment to £1.1 billion in 2015/16 and growing it in line with inflation each year to 2020. The consultation includes proposals in three areas that may be of particular interest to the Arts and Humanities community:
- Big Data Centre for the Creative Economy section 1.11 can be found on page 68
- Digital Transformation in the Arts and Humanities section 1.12 can be found on page 68
- Heritage Science section 1.13 can be found on page 69
The consultation is open until the 4 July 2014. To find out more and feed into the consultation go to the Consultation on proposals for long-term capital investment in science and research (opens in new window).Return to news list
