Rapid transition to a more circular economy offers the UK potential for sustainable growth and prosperity, but requires clear implementation pathways, based upon sound research evidence. This research evidence needs to be more extensive than just the technical, technological, or scientific. It needs to come from across the remits of the research councils including consideration of relevant social, cultural, ethical, environmental, economic, legal and regulatory, and behavioural aspects.
AHRC is working with Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and Innovate UK to bring together research and innovation communities with an interest in Circular Economy, and to strengthen collaboration to enable greater interdisciplinary working in this area.
To this end, EPSRC, on behalf of UKRI, are leading on the delivery of two interdisciplinary meetings which will bring together these research and innovation communities to discuss key challenges and opportunities and to facilitate cross-disciplinary working. These meetings are open to all researchers with an interest in circular economy regardless of disciplinary background.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 4pm Tuesday, 21 May 2019. Full details of the meetings and the expression of interest form can be found on the EPSRC website.Return to events
