Event date Event time Event location
26/07/2018 2:30 pm - 7:00 pm The Museum of the Order of St John, St John's Gate, Clerkenwell, London, EC1M 4DA

The AHRC-funded History of First Aid team is collaborating with the Museum of the Order of St John to hold a one-day event where visitors can discover the stories of people who spent their lives caring for others. There will be living history demonstrations of first aiders in action at the seaside in the 1930s, and during the First World War and the Cold War.

During the event, participants will also have the opportunity to:

  • Practise their own first aid skills
  • Explore an ambulance
  • Join a brass band
  • Make and shake a collecting tin
  • Collect prizes as they hunt for clues on the museum trail.

This Museum of the Order of St John engagement event is brought to the public in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded project Crossing Boundaries: The History of First Aid in Britain and France 1909 - 1989, and the British Red Cross Museum and Archive.

The event is suitable for all ages, and admission is free. For more information about facilities and accessibility, visit the museum’s website www.museumstjohn.org.uk.
