Remit Query Form
Unfortunately due to a system error some submissions submitted since December 2020 may have not been received. If you have submitted a remit form and have not had a response, please email remit@ahrc.ukri.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
All applicants should consult the AHRC Disciplines webpage before submitting a full proposal. If you are still unsure whether your research is suitable for AHRC funding, please complete the subject remit query form below.
Before using this query form please do check that you yourself are eligible to receive AHRC funding. Post-doctoral researchers should refer to section 2 of the AHRC Research Funding Guide. Those seeking doctoral funding should note that we do not provide direct funding to students therefore you should refer to your intended place of study for guidance on the availability of AHRC funding.
In order that your query can be quickly and accurately assessed, it is essential that you clearly explain your research aims, plans, and where you think that the main novelty of your project lies. All arts and humanities methodologies and research questions should be clearly articulated and presented in jargon-free language. It is also important that any interdisciplinary aspects that may overlap with another Research Council’s remit are flagged-up.
It is not necessary to provide detailed background information, references or costs relating to your research within the form, at this point it is simply the subject disciplinary aspects of the project that need to be assessed.
What happens next?
Your pre-application query will be assessed by AHRC's Remit Team to ascertain the level of arts and humanities remit within the project. The remit team consult colleagues within AHRC and other research councils to give the best advice possible about how to proceed with your proposal. If it is decided your proposal is best suited to another research council, we will refer you to that council's remit team.We aim to respond to remit queries within two weeks. If you have any further questions please contact remit@ahrc.ukri.org.
Please note that all decisions made by the AHRC’s remit team are final. The Remit Team is not able to revisit or review decisions that applicants may disagree with.
