Greenhouse Gas Removal Demonstrators Programme calls and workshop

Summary

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) announced on 30 September 2019 research calls and a workshop for the Greenhouse Gas Removal Demonstrators (GGR-D) Programme. The GGR-D Programme will assess sustainable routes for large-scale greenhouse gas removal (GGR) from the atmosphere.

This is an interdisciplinary initiative funded under Wave 2 of the Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF), representing an investment of £31.5 million. This programme is delivered by UKRI, involving the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), and Innovate UK.

The GGR-D Programme will be delivered through demonstrators and a research hub. The calls are relevant for applicants from across the remit of UKRI.

Workshop

A workshop will be held on 16 October in London to communicate more details about the research calls and the intended roles of the Demonstrators and Directorate Hub. Attendance at the workshop is not mandatory for applicants to the research calls.
