International Placement Scheme: Shanghai Theatre Academy

Enhance your research with a fellowship of up to six four months at Shanghai Theatre Academy in China.

Exciting opportunities exist for early career researchers, post-doctoral research assistants and AHRC-funded doctoral students to undertake a three to four month funded fellowship at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, as part of the International Placement Scheme (IPS).

About Shanghai Theatre Academy

The Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) is a comprehensive university of performing arts. Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, STA is one of the best higher education art institutions in China. It has grown from a single discipline school into an outstanding comprehensive university of performing and digital arts, fine arts, and visual cultures. It has a particular research strength in Chinese Theatre Studies. On the campus there are two professional theatres for educational practice and formal performance.

IPS STA fellows are required to have a basic level of Chinese language competency. This can be acquired during the IPS fellowship, which provides two weeks of Chinese language classes at STA before the fellowship officially starts. Regular language classes will continue alongside the IPS fellowship.
