Hello Shenzhen: Researching the Ethics of Makerspaces
The AHRC in collaboration with the British Council are inviting applications to further academic research into the Chinese Maker movement.
As part of the British Council’s ‘Hello Shenzhen’ residency exchange programme, which connects makers in the UK and China, this call invites applicants for a hands-on, immersive, and collaborative research into the ethics of makerspace.
Research aims include developing knowledge exchange networks between the UK and China, analyse the impact of international exchanges on makerspace ethics, and contribute to the development of policy.
Successful applications will take-up research residency in China, and will have access to working with numerous UK-based organisations to gain practical and participant-led research. Details of these organisations can be found in the call document.
As part of the AHRC’s Global Challenges Research Fund, this call seeks to contribute to the economic development and welfare of China, and must be compliant with Official Development Assistance policy.
