Cultural Value Project Targeted Call for Critical Reviews and Research Development Awards and Expressions of Interest to deliver Expert workshops
In supporting the Cultural Value Project, the AHRC wishes to make a major contribution to how we think about the value of arts and culture to individuals and to society. The objective of the Project is to develop a framework within which the different components of cultural value will be identified and to establish for each of the components methodologies and appropriate types of evidence for evaluating their contribution.
The Cultural Value Project, which began in September 2012, is now entering its second phase. In the months to come, the Project will be seeking to consolidate and expand the solid research base provided through the awards made following the first Open Funding Call.
To this end the AHRC is now offering two further funding opportunities, a targeted call for Critical Reviews and Research Development Awards, and an invitation to submit expressions of interest to deliver Expert Workshops.
Targeted Call for Critical Reviews and Research Development Awards
The second phase of the Cultural Value Project will be devoted to cementing the framework delineated by the components of cultural value and associated evidence and methodologies. As part of this objective, the Project will support new research activities in a number of areas identified as priority areas remaining after the outcome of the Open Funding Call. Following a consultation with the Project’s Advisory Group, this directed call invites applications in a number of clearly defined areas in order to ensure that the framework articulated by the Cultural Value Project meets its objectives with respect to both thematic range and methodological scope.
Two types of awards will be supported under the call; Critical Reviews of an existing body of research in specified areas and Research Development Awards for undertaking research and innovative thinking in the specified areas.
The closing date for submission of Critical Reviews and Research Development Award through JeS is 4pm 7 November 2013.
Invitation to submit Expressions of Interest to deliver Expert Workshops
Expert Workshops will be concerned with precise topics on which a small group of people (c. 12-15) with expertise would gather to explore the key issues. The overarching aim will be to move forward the Project’s thinking on the topic in such a way as to inform the ways in which it might be addressed in the final report of the Cultural Value Project.
The aim of these workshops is to consolidate and expand research in a number of areas identified as priority gaps in the framework of the Cultural Value Project. Through this workshop series we wish to stimulate the development of ideas and approaches which will contribute to the final report of the Project. The series of workshops advertised in this call is expected to take place between February and May 2014. In practical terms, successful applicants will be asked to shape the intellectual scope of the workshop, to deliver and facilitate the event, and to write a report.
The closing date for submission of expressions of interest via email to email@example.com is 4pm 7 November 2013.
